« Isolé.e » est un court métrage qui explore le sentiment d’isolement vécu par les immigrants et le besoin d’appartenance — la recherche d’une tribu, d’un groupe, d’une famille. Loin de notre culture et de nos histoires, nous sommes obligés de nous réinventer. Devenir quelqu’un que nous n’avons jamais été nécessite du temps, un travail intérieur intense et un équilibre délicat entre revisiter le passé, comprendre le présent et concevoir un avenir utopique et stratégique.
L’attachement aux traditions et aux coutumes s’intensifie. Pour rester sains d’esprit, nous ressentons souvent le besoin d’être encore plus latins que nous ne l’étions en Amérique latine, comme si nos racines nous maintenaient sur la bonne voie face à l’incertitude.
Le film traduit cette dualité à travers le décalage entre le son et l’image, reflétant la rupture entre les souvenirs du passé et la réalité du présent. Les sons tropicaux de l'enfance contrastent avec le froid, les arbres secs, le bruit incessant de la ville et le regard fatigué du protagoniste. L’angoisse grandit et peut se transformer en colère si elle n’est pas comprise et acceptée. Ce bouleversement émotionnel atteint son paroxysme lorsque le personnage découvre un petit fragment de nature vivante, un vestige de son identité au milieu du béton — une recherche désespérée pour renouer avec ce qui lui apportait de la joie, la chaleur d’une journée ensoleillée, le rire qui se perd désormais parmi le bruit du métro, des motos, de la ville, de la vie d’adulte et de la vie d’immigrant.
Notre cœur est l’île de contrôle de notre corps ; le sentiment, la boussole qui définit la façon dont nous traitons le monde qui nous entoure. Notre ascendance transcende le corps, nous ancrant au présent.
Créé par une équipe diversifiée — moi, Iago, Brésilien ; Arianna Vitor, Péruvienne ; Constanza, Bolivienne; et Lua Royo, espagnol — « Isolé.e » a été développé dans le cadre du cours Contrepoint à la Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3. Le court métrage explore la profondeur des sentiments quotidiens d'une femme métisse latino-américaine indépendante, dont la culture et les coutumes risquent d'être effacées si elles ne sont pas vécues consciemment. La dissociation entre le son et l’image symbolise la déconnexion culturelle et émotionnelle entre un pays tropical et un pays froid, entre appartenance et isolement.

"Isolé.e" é um curta-metragem que explora o sentimento de isolamento vivido por imigrantes e a necessidade de pertencimento — a busca por uma tribo, um grupo, uma família. Longe da nossa cultura e das nossas histórias, somos forçados a nos reinventar. Tornar-se alguém que nunca fomos exige tempo, um intenso trabalho interno e um equilíbrio delicado entre revisitar o passado, compreender o presente e projetar um futuro utópico e estratégico.
O apego às tradições e costumes se intensifica. Para manter a sanidade, muitas vezes sentimos a necessidade de sermos ainda mais latinos do que éramos na América Latina, como se nossas raízes nos mantivessem firmes diante da incerteza.
O filme traduz essa dualidade através do desencontro entre som e imagem, refletindo a ruptura entre as memórias do passado e a realidade do presente. Sons tropicais da infância contrastam com o frio, as árvores secas, o ruído incessante da cidade e o olhar cansado da protagonista. A angústia cresce, podendo se transformar em raiva se não for compreendida e acolhida. Esse turbilhão emocional atinge seu ápice no momento em que a personagem se depara com um pequeno fragmento de natureza viva, um resquício de sua identidade em meio ao concreto — uma busca desesperada por reconectar-se ao que lhe trazia alegria, ao calor de um dia ensolarado, às risadas que agora se perdem entre os ruídos do metrô, das motos, da cidade, da vida adulta e da vida imigrante.
Nosso coração é a ilha de controle do nosso corpo; o sentimento, a bússola que define como processamos o mundo ao nosso redor. Nossa ancestralidade transcende o corpo, ancorando-nos ao presente.
Criado por uma equipe diversa — eu, iago, brasileiro; Arianna Vitor, peruana; Constanza, boliviana; e Lua Royo, espanhola — "Isolé.e" foi desenvolvido no curso Contrepoint da Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3. O curta investiga a profundidade dos sentimentos cotidianos de uma mulher mestiça latino-americana independente, cuja cultura e costumes correm o risco de serem apagados se não forem conscientemente vividos. A dissociação entre som e imagem simboliza o desencontro cultural e emocional entre um país tropical e um país frio, entre pertencimento e isolamento.

"Isolé.e" is a short film that explores the feeling of isolation experienced by immigrants and the need to belong — the search for a tribe, a group, a family. Far from our culture and our stories, we are forced to reinvent ourselves. Becoming someone we have never been requires time, intense internal work and a delicate balance between revisiting the past, understanding the present and projecting a utopian and strategic future.
Attachment to traditions and customs intensifies. To maintain sanity, we often feel the need to be even more Latin than we were in Latin America, as if our roots kept us firm in the face of uncertainty.
The film conveys this duality through the mismatch between sound and image, reflecting the rupture between memories of the past and the reality of the present. Tropical sounds from childhood contrast with the cold, the dry trees, the incessant noise of the city and the tired gaze of the protagonist. Anguish grows, and can turn into anger if it is not understood and welcomed. This emotional whirlwind reaches its peak when the character comes across a small fragment of living nature, a remnant of her identity amidst the concrete — a desperate search to reconnect with what brought her joy, the warmth of a sunny day, the laughter that is now lost among the noises of the subway, the motorcycles, the city, adult life and immigrant life.
Our heart is the island of control of our body; feeling, the compass that defines how we process the world around us. Our ancestry transcends the body, anchoring us to the present.
Created by a diverse team — me, Iago, Brazilian; Arianna Vitor, Peruvian; Constanza, Bolivian; and Lua Royo, Spanish — "Isolé.e" was developed in the Contrepoint course at the Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris 3. The short film explores the depth of the everyday feelings of an independent Latin American mixed-race woman, whose culture and customs are at risk of being erased if they are not consciously lived. The dissociation between sound and image symbolizes the cultural and emotional disconnect between a tropical country and a cold country, between belonging and isolation.
